Individuals, who by receiving a nutritional meal, will be able to maintain their independence to remain at home. Individuals living at home include:
- Seniors.
- Adults who are chronically ill.
- Adults living with a disability.
- Adults recovering from surgery or ill.
- Adults undergoing medical treatment.
- Adults recovering from surgery or illness.
Is there a cost to Meals on Wheels?
Yes. As Meals on Wheels is a not-for-profit service, the cost is kept to a minimum.
Do you offer a menu for diabetics or people with allergies?Yes. The coordinator will discuss your needs with you when you sign up.
What if nobody is home for the delivery?
To ensure the clients’ safety and security, if a client does not answer their door, volunteers have been instructed to contact the Meals on Wheels Coordinator who will try and reach the client by phone. If the client cannot be reached by phone, the coordinator will telephone the designated emergency contact for that client. We encourage our clients to call us beforehand with instructions if they know they’ll be away during delivery hours.
Can a meal be cancelled for a specific day?
Yes, meals can be cancelled for a specific day or days. Please let us know by 9:00 AM the day prior, as a charge may be applied if too little notice is given.
Do you accept credit or debit cards?
Sorry, no. As a non-profit organization we strive to keep our costs down. We do accept e-transfers and cheques in payment of your monthly bill.
