Meals on Wheels in Port Alberni is a not for profit registered charitable organization led by a volunteer Board of Directors, a paid Meal Coordinator, Assistant Coordinator, and many dedicated volunteer drivers. Meals on Wheels Port Alberni promotes the dignity, health and independence of people who are elderly, have disabilities or are convalescing.

Access to well-balanced, affordable meals is imperative to the independence and sustenance of Meals on Wheels clients. Research shows that healthy eating provides essential energy and nutrients for general welfare, maintenance of health and functional autonomy, and reduces the risk for chronic diseases at older ages.

Every Tuesday through Saturday, our volunteers deliver hot, nutritious, and affordable meals prepared by the Cypress Restaurant kitchen staff at Chances Rim Rock.

Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers also offer the comfort of a friendly visit and the reassurance of an informal check on our clients’ safety and well-being.
